Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH.3/SW.27.12.40. 40 m/m Gun - Type HD.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} re Tool Boxes. Following up the visit to the British Power Boat Co., at Southampton, we have produced schemes of the tool box to meet the requirements of the Power Boat. This consists of 2 separate boxes, one containing the tools which it is essential should be kept in the immediate proximity of the gun, and the other the tools and equipment which may be stored away below. Accordingly, we attach blueprints of the following:- QPL.162 No.1 Service Tool Box. QPL.163 No.2 " " " We have had models of these boxes made by the Pattern Shop, and have forwarded them to Ve. together with all the actual tools which were in our possession. It is suggested that any subsequent boxes will be made by B.U.S.M. from these models. The water proof tubing around the No.1 Service Box model is merely plain rubber tubing, but as an alternative to this, we have handed to Ve. a sorbo filled rubber sample, and we attach to his copy the letter we had from the Leyland and Birmingham Rubber Co., Ltd., quoting particulars of this alternative. ----------------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH.
