To HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. for. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Hey. HHG. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} SpectreCodename for Phantom III Frame. We have been discussing the frame side channels with the prospective makers, and have made various modifications as a result. Herewith is N. Sch.4037 showing the front end, suitable for the "Cadillac" type front suspension, modified in accordance with the information we have obtained by discussion with the representatives of Messrs. John Thompson and Rubery Owen. The modifications to the remainder of the side channels consists only in the increase of the spot welding flange from .500 to .625, above the channel flange top, and the provision, if not already done, of a minimum radius of .187 in the corners of the section. The still larger radii provided on this drawing only apply to the front end. The extension to the front beyond the "boss" for the spring pot, which has been added to help the frame makers, will require some modification to the brake operation on N. Sch.4033, which we shall send you lately. The suggestion is that you should modify your frame side channel drawing in accordance with N. Sch.4037 so that fresh prints can be sent to Messrs. John Thompson, Rubery Owen, etc. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
