re Phantom 2 Tank Engine.

We have made a preliminary experiment for checking the dimensions of the air cleaner required on the left-hand Phantom 2 engine for the Polish Tanks and the 6 ton British Tank.

This has been done by running this engine on two 20/25 Tank air filters.

The attached print shews the horse power curves Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} has obtained shewing that with two filters fitted in parallel there is very little loss.

Actually we are fitting one large unit filter to the engine as standard, and in the case of the Polish installation this will have to be accessible through the bulk head at the front end of the engine, in making which provision we shall have room to put in quite a big filter so that the power loss will probably be even less than shewn.

Print attached.
