FAULTY BATTERY IGNITION PARTS X.5783. CHASSIS GYL-61. EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} /HEW1/AD2.6.30. I am very interested to note your report upon the coil in question ex chassis No. GYL-61, and that the coil, ballast resistance and condenser appear to be in order; and that the only possible cause of trouble would be the contact points but these you do not think would account for an absolute failure. With this particular car I have had two bad failures and one bad intermittent missing, so that I have had trouble on three occasions. If the bad condition of the contact points will not account for absolute failure and there is nothing wrong with the other parts, then it would appear there must be something else intermittent connected with the ignition system. Is there anything you can suggest should be examined? What I have in mind is that I may be let down at any moment, and although, as mentioned in my previous memo, it is easy enough to change over to the magneto, at the same time I hate to be seen messing about with a Rolls-Royce car on the road, more particularly in traffic, and these things have a habit of taking place at the most inconvenient times. If there are any suggestions you can make I will get 'N' to go through the whole system. C. | ||
