the difficulty of placing the jack under the rear axle. On this question Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} informed us that you are now considering the fitting of permanent pads on the rear by means of which an ordinary jack can be easily manipulated.

(6) Watson of Liverpool suggested that the cut-out should be taken clear of the body. He says it would be a better noise, and in connection with this it is complained that fumes get into the body from the cut-out.

(7) A man from Holland who tried the car at Olympia said he thought the springs and shock absorbers were too soft for the bad roads in Holland.
Do you expect to have our shock absorber control ready for the first production on the Bentley?

(8) The fitting of India tyres appears to have been fairly generally adversely criticised, possibly because of their past reputation. I believe the Works were perfectly satisfied with the India tyres, both from the point of view of silence and road adhesive properties. Perhaps you will please confirm this.

(9) We are having many applications to carry the spare wheel at the side in order to provide better luggage accommodation behind. We would like the views of the Works upon this point.

We are also having a few applications for two spare wheels, one on either side. Anything the Works can give us as arguments against this we shall be glad to have. We, of course, know the necessity of keeping the weight down.

There are a number of other smaller items of criticism concerning the coachwork, etc. that we will refer to later.
