Dear Sirs, JACKS FOR 40/50 HP.CHASSIS. With further reference to your letter of the 21st ulto. ref.- Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 7/NJ21926, and confirming ours of 24th ulto. We regret to inform you that it is impossible to give any promise as to when we are likely to receive a sample Jack built on the lines of the sample you were good enough to supply. Delivery may not be possible earlier than 2-3 months. The suppliers of the necessary components are reputed to be the best people in this country and we have ascertained that they have no standard Jack which meets all your requirements. In the meantime, therefore, we can offer only the following:- a. {Mr Adams} Standard Balloon Tyre Jack, fitted with 2¼" Folding Top at 7/6d.each. b. 145 only Double Lift Jacks with Plated Top, not now listed by us, at 22/-d.each. We are sending you today sample each of the two Jacks referred to and shall be glad to have your views as to whether they might be adapted to your needs for at least the present. The writer will be glad to run through with our Mr.Carr to see Mr.Harvey Bailey on the subject. We would like you to appreciate the fact that we are anxious and willing to produce something which will entirely meet your requirements, but it has been impossible to accelerate the work of preparation. Under the circumstances we could not complain if you place the business elsewhere. We should gladly give you any possible information regarding other sources of supply, but unfortunately we have no knowledge of any other make even in preparation.
