Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/KW.6.3.35.

At present we do not run into such high oil temperatures that our main bearings are affected: it is only the big ends which suffer under extreme heat.

Now we would like to ask you a question! We have been examining the Cadillac gearbox and we think the gear grinding is better than anything we can do. On the other hand, by looking at the grinding marks we cannot understand what machine has been used. Could you give us particulars of the grinding machine which you use for the Cadillac.

We notice that in some cases the top of the tooth seems to be relieved. We presume this is intentional ?

We think that the bedding of your gears is excellent.

Yours sincerely,
