GOSHAWK 11. X3531

We think it is essential, when judging the performance of Goshawk 11. car, to take into account the size of the engine. We feel that all of us, unconsciously, compare it with the 40/50 HP. The capacity of the Goshawk engine is about approx. 42% of the 40/50 HP. The weight of the Goshawk is about 70 to 75% that of the 40/50 HP. The windage area is very little less than the 40/50 HP. It will be seen from this that the only way the Goshawk can make a reasonable show against the 40/50 is when the engine revolutions are kept high. Goshawk 11. engine is a smaller engine than is fitted to most 20 HP. cars. Attached is a list giving a percentage comparison of engine sizes of other makes of cars round about 20 horse power. It will be noticed that we are considerably smaller than the 20 HP. Wolseley or the 20 HP. Austin, which are two popular types of car. We must expect that we shall get beaten for pure speed and hill climbing when we compete against cars with larger engines. We shall be able to put up a very good show but there must be a limit of performance without spoiling the engine in other respects.
