1164 NW.{N. Walker - Patents} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} (Belper) Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}10/JMS.5.6.40. With reference to the running and maintenance notes on B.V.& Corniche cars, we make the following suggestions for additions to the second edition: PAGE 2. PROP. SHAFT. To be added:- The intermediate bearing is mounted on rubber in the special "X" cross bracing member. PAGE 13. (1st paragraph) If the car is heavily loaded, or on any sort of an up hill gradient, first gear should be used to prevent stalling of engine, excessive engine R.P.M. to prevent stalling is detrimental to the clutch. PAGE 27. Item 3. To be added:- Clean dynamo brushes and commutator with a clean cloth, removing all traces of oil or grease present. PAGE 27. Additional Item. CLUTCH. - Check setting of clutch pedal. The correct position of the clutch pedal is such that it should have 1.00" of free movement between the pedal and the floorboard, and this is obtained by adjusting the rod, which has a right and left hand thread, between the clutch pedal itself and the operating countershaft or intermediate shaft. A photograph is necessary to illustrate this properly. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
