ACCIDENT ON 25 HP. CAR UL.7712.

I was proceeding to Cricklewood yesterday, and was driving the Sales Dept. car UL.7712 which is used by Lp.{Mr Lappin}, who was a passenger on the car with me.

We were proceeding on the main Hollyhead road towards London. When approaching Smockington Hollow we noticed a road coming in from the left. At the time I was driving at about 40 m.p.h., actually we were descending a hill on which there was a nasty hog-back bridge at the bottom which demanded a reduction in speed. I saw a car coming along this side road towards the main road. We gave warning of our approach and assumed that the car coming in from the side road would reduce speed and enable us to pass. Actually, the car came on to the main road well over on to its right-hand side and proceeded straight across the road in front of us. When we saw that it was inevitable that the car could not stop we pulled over to the right-hand side with the idea that the approaching car could then avoid having to cross the front of our car. We collided with the car on the edge of the road with the result that the approaching car, a Willys Knight, was over-turned into a ditch falling on to its side.

There were seven people in the car. One of them had a cut on the forehead, evidently from broken glass and some of the others were bruised.
