ENGINE - REVISED FRONT BEARER TUBE. Y.8005 K.{Mr Kilner}
We send herewith drawing Loc. 2008., showing the above, to replace the tube with brazed fittings.
The maximum stress is reduced by the alteration to half and with the metal suitably heat treated the factor of safety beyond which permanent set should occur ought to be multiplied many times.
We think the material of the forged tube should be one of the mild alloy steels which are easy to forge. Would you kindly issue the necessary instructions.
The cross bar connecting the tubes at the front has not been altered except that we are asking for a sixteenth larger hole at each end.
E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
