STANDARDISATION of CHASSIS PARTS Description of Parts. Petrol Filter Gauze made of Monel metal wire. Origin. Owing to failure of present gauze used on filters. Experimental Test Report. The Monelmetal wire is a definite advantage because it is less likely to corrode. Another advantage in this material is owing to the method of weaving, a much stouter gauge of wire can be used and still have a fine mesh. Road Test Report. One Filter gauze ran 7000 miles on 49-GB.
