Lucas Horns returned for modification.

With reference to the horns mentioned in Wst/RC.{R. Childs}7/JH.14.5.37. and HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/WSC.{W. S. Cassel}2/BA.21.5.37. we have from time to time, returned a number of pairs of horns for modification and overhaul. On receiving the above mentioned horns from the stores therefore we naturally supposed them to be some of those which had been returned by us.

In view of Messrs. Lucas reply, X/LGT/10 of 28.5.37. we have made enquiries, and are given to understand by the Order Office, that the horns in question have not come from the makers but from a coachbuilders.

As these horns are not up to production standard, and from our point of view, quite obsolete and scrap, we would like the C.O. to approach the makers with a view to them retaining the horns, and making us some allowance for them. If this is agreed to, we will forward the fourth horn in order to make the complete two pairs.

Will you please arrange accordingly.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst.
