Dear Oy.,

I much enjoyed listening to you on Wednesday, particularly after that soporific spokesman Dr. Lanchester.

We had a great time with Taub, and I hope you will bring him up here again before he goes. He told us that they had got the valve spring job "taped" in America, and had got an empirical line to show what stress range and maximum stress would give valve springs which would not fail. The gentleman who knew all about this appeared to be Mr. Zimmerley, of Barnes, Gibson & Raymond, Detroit. I wonder whether by any means you could extract some information from this gentleman for us.

They also shot-blast the external surface of their valve springs. Can we get hold of the necessary apparatus to do this?

Please let us know when you are coming to Derby again. We have no apologies to make for the weather or the appearance of the countryside at present.

Yours sincerely,
