Copy to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH. 1033 Expl Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}4/SW. 19th July, 1941. Zenith Carburetter Co., Honeypot Lane, Stanmore, MIDDLESEX. Your Ref: AEP/LT. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter dated 16th July, and note your comments re the suggested starting choke. Regarding your drawing X.2579, we are completing a detail drawing for casting purposes, and propose obtaining a casting as soon as possible. We will forward a print of this within the next few days. In the meantime, we suggest you detail the remaining parts, and go ahead with their manufacture. We would then like to send the casting to you for machining, and fitting the strangler pieces. The point you raise about float chamber balance being connected to the atmospheric side of the choke valve, was raised by Mr. Turner, during the Writer's last visit. On that occasion, we suggested that an external pipe should be used, for the initial tests. There is no reason why this pipe should not have a bore of something like ¼". Your suggestion for material is a good one, and we will cast in bronze. Assuming that the above meets with your approval, will you please go ahead with two sets of parts. Finally, we would be very much obliged if you could supply two prints off each detail, of the various parts concerned with the application of the 60 D.C.A. to our engine. This to include casting mods., strangler choke, etc., at the same time, we would like similar prints of the alterations you have carried out to the Kestrel carbs, such as an improved main jet and location, and the method adopted for -continued- | ||
