STUTZ CAR - PERFORMANCE.

The following particulars were not given in the previous report :-

Volume of combustion head = 150 cc.
Compression ratio = 4.25/1
Ground clearance = 7.125" (the closest point to the ground is the rear propeller shaft universal joint).

Behaviour of car under road conditions.

Steering.

The steering is generally good. Road shocks transmitted to the wheel are negligible. The effort required to operate the steering under low speed shunting conditions is somewhat excessive, otherwise it is a light easy steering. Self centering, while not very pronounced, is good. No low or high speed wobbles are obtainable. The control when driving at high speeds is not good, this is the worst feature of the steering; this fault is common to all steerings of this non-reversable type and is accentuated on this particular car by a considerable amount of slack between the steering cam and lever. The steering lock while not excessively good is useful. The diameters of the turning circles measured from tyre centres are :-

Left hand lock 45.54 ft.
Right hand lock 51.48 ft.

Clutch and gearbox.

The clutch is good and smooth in engagement. It stops very quickly with relatively little clutch pedal contd:-
