Dear Sirs,

In reply to your letter dated 2nd July, 1936.

We have examined the sample bars and find them to be of good quality, of high tensile strength, and having a high resistance to abrasion. We have also examined the micro-structure and see no reason why it should not make good brake drum material, although we cannot see that it would have any special properties.

We are however quite satisfied with the quality of the iron we now use for brake drums. It is equally as strong as yours and we get no trouble from scoring in normal service.

As we do not think our customers would derive any benefit from a change to your product, we have decided not to incur the extra cost.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
