CHASSIS - WHEELS.
RE THE QUESTION OF FITTING STRAIGHT-SIDED TYRES.

Mr.Matthews, one of the directors of the Dunlop Wheel and Rim Co. visited out Works to-day and informs us that he anticipates they will be able to deliver wire wheels suitable for straight-sided tyres by September of this year.

He also informed us that his Company are laying themselves out seriously to the production of straight-sided tyres as for British use, maintaining an 895 x 135 size of rim, which he considers will be made in such a manner that it will correspond with the American 32 x 4½" which again is suitable for carrying 33 x 5" tyres.

Mr.Matthews was unable to tell us exactly when the new production would be available, but that they had actually acquired one of the old Munition Factories and that in any case we would be the first people that they would submit the new proposition to, and that further, when the new type of tyre and wire wheel are in production they will be able to at once change over from our present type to the new type at practically a week's notice. He pointed out that any rims which they carried in stock would be quite useful to their Company, as they proposed to supply them on other cars in England. and to meet the requirements
