[Strikethrough: Pt.] FROM HDY.{William Hardy} C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Won. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Day HDY{William Hardy}/2/W29.11.32. [Handwritten: S-4] [Handwritten: K4-553] BENTSPORT GEARBOX. N. sch. 3596. herewith shews actuating shafts with the levers hydraulically pressed on instead of being brazed as instructed on our original drawing. Keys are provided to guard against movement under exceptional loads, and parallel pins locate the levers endwise. As the keys will permit of slight movement we suggest that clearance be allowed in the shaft for the pins by drilling the shaft .156 before assembling the levers which are drilled for .125 pins and are pressed on to bring the holes into line. We are assuming that the levers can be guided by a jig sufficiently well to pick up the keys. Chamfered ends to the keyways will assist. HDY.{William Hardy} | ||
