X 202 K/W. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} from KC. K/KC/DPB/29.12.36. Reference your Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}9/AP.24.12.36., I have never seen a 3½-litre or 4¼-litre rear axle centre case damaged by the use of a lifting jack. I have made extensive enquiries amongst the Section Foremen here and they assure me the only damage they have seen due to a jack is an occasional petrol tank and not a rear axle casing. Regarding axle becoming noisy due to distortion through being jacked in this manner, the majority of the cases of noisy axle gears which pass through this Depot are due to faulty thrust race.
