the result was interesting, I could not make the automatic control overcome the sulphate and falling capacity until I set it so high it would only cut out after hours of "gassing", and only then could I keep my plates right.

Finally, I resorted to hand control and kept my second battery in service satisfactorily for a life of nearly twice the original battery under auto control.

I propose to let the Experimental Department have the battery out of my car, as it has run some 35,000 miles for a period of time of two years, and I would like to see whether my battery which has been regularly "topped up" and has done practically no night running and there is therefore no excuse for any sulphating, except that which may be present as the result of wrong charging conditions.
