-2- R3/M6.1.31 contd. Really I came to the conclusion that the 3rd. brush scheme was not good some time ago. I thought we should get a better output from the dynamo with a voltage control vibrator, and I propose that we examine this, because to me it would cure the trouble if it is possible to make or buy a really lasting vibrator voltage controller. It would do more and be far better than increasing the dynamo size. (1) A better output can be taken from the same dynamo, or the same output with less rise of temperature. (2) The lamps would be better fed with current when the battery was low. (3) Greater charging current when battery low. It is a scheme which may fail because of the vibrator contact makers failing, and it may roast the dynamo, but I think I can see that there should be schemes that would reduce the risk of asking the dynamo for too great current, such as compound winding the vibrator, etc. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
