300b. To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.14/AP.10.12.36. FAN AND DRIVE FOR 35-EX. The present instruction for the above items on 35-EX. is - Fan - Cadillac 5 blade type - made by R.R. Drive - Single or twin schemes (High speed) Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}223 and Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}224. As neither of these drives have proved satisfactory and we are still carrying out tests on them, we have not been able to test the above fan which has aluminium blades. We shall therefore not run either of these items on 35-EX. 35-EX. should therefore have the same fan and drive which it has at present, except that a new belt should be fitted. We have decided not to use the higher speed drive on the standard car - however, when we have obtained a successful high speed drive it should be fitted to the Continental car in conjunction with the R.R. built 5 blade fan mentioned above.
