Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} (1) Complete investigation regarding comparative results obtained by reducing gasket thickness and yet maintain-ing same compression ratio. Curves for power, detonation (Red Line) ignition advance for non-detonating at low speeds and max. power at high. Curves taken with standard air and exhaust silencers. (2) Timing Gears. Check for fore and aft rattle on camshaft as for Wraith which is equipped with end thrust plunger. Try effect of cam balancer with all 3 plungers in operation, 1 removed, 2 removed and all removed. This will only show up in rattles at low speeds not above 1500 R.P.M. (3) When 1 and 2 completed carry on with carbur-ation tests as recently discussed. WRAITH III NO.2 UNIT (b) Bed. Complete comparison between standard Wraith induction manifold and reduced bore manifold with branches similar shape to 25/30 and baffles in hot spot. Following above return unit to the shop where it will be fitted with Torsional Indicator for crank period tests. | ||
