257 1263 Experimental Department 23rd. January 1937. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}4/AP. Messrs S.Smith & Sons (Motor Accessories) Ltd., Cricklewood Works, LONDON N.W.2. For the attention of Mr.Russell. Dear Sirs, With reference to your enquiry about the petrol tank unit, which we stated in our letter of the 15th inst. had been despatched to you. We have made enquiries and have found it was only despatched on the 21st. inst. We apologise for the trouble this has caused you and shall be interested to have your report on this unit. The tank unit built up with the Gaskoid washer has been fitted to one of our experimental cars; when the tank was fitted right up there was a slight leakage of petrol on the joint between the flange plate to the tank and the Bakelite body. These four screws were tightened up and it now appears satisfactory. We will let you have a further report in a month or so. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
