X 1033 HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GR.{George Ratcliffe} 6/JH. Exptl. Dept. 21st August, 1936. The Zenith Carburetter Co.Ltd., Honeypot Lane, Stanmore, Middlesex. For the attention of Mr. Fisher. Dear Sirs, We are still having failures on the Ph.III carburetter accelerator pumps. Recent failures suggest the slot in the bore of the cylinder as the culprit. When the piston is withdrawn beyond its assembled travel, the leather cup fouls in this slot. This condition arises when disconnected from the throttle. As a safeguard and cure for this trouble on erection and tests, I suggest that the slot be reduced in length, for the piston to have a true bore even when disconnected from the throttle. Please let me have your comments on this as soon as possible, the matter being in urgent need of correction. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
