X.3981. RE - CHASSIS REAR SPRINGS.

We have received a set of springs from Messrs. Woodhead's for Mr. Royce's car. Unfortunately, these springs have the thick ends. We believe the springs Woodheads are sending in have the thick ends and are thicker than Mr. Day instructed. We have measured them at the extreme ends of the leaves where they are .175" thick. The pair of springs which Messrs. Woodheads sent in with the thinner ends are .075" to .100" thick at the ends.

We should be pleased if you would order up for us half dozen sets of these later type springs with the thin ends to the leaves. The weight should be as follows:-

2 1800.
2 1900.
2 2000
2 2100
2 2200
2 2300

We should like to get hold of the springs as soon as ever possible because as soon as we are satisfied that they will overcome the squeaking, we could recommend that we get R and CJ's agreement to change over to these springs without completing 10,000 miles.
