1124 Experimental Department 14th November 1936. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Mths.{Reg Matthews}4/AP. Messrs Hepworth & Grandage Ltd., St.John's Works, Bradford, YORKS For the attention of Mr.H.J.Young. Dear Mr.Young, The writer has been recently reading your very interesting paper published in the S.A.E. Journal of November, 1935 and wondering if you could examine some samples of our cylinder material and give us your opinion of them. The writer could arrange to bring along samples on a date suitable to yourself should you care to examine them for us. We should also like to know to whom you supply the type of liners mentioned in your paper and for what type of work they are used.? Have you any wear figures from any of the people using them.? Have you any means of rapidly testing the wearing properties of cylinder materials or in case you have not, do you know of anybody who has and what is the method employed. Trusting you will be able to enlighten us on cylinder problems, We are, Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
