11th July, 1938.

W. Robotham, Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Mr. Robotham,

I thank you for your letter of the 9th instant and am sorry about the failure at Dennis'. I am not unduly alarmed as it may be something that is not due to A.C.9.

We have been in touch with Dennis' and Mr. Blackith will visit them at the same time as your representative.

I am sending you under separate cover one half of the bearing which has failed and also a casting. The other half of the filed bearing has been forwarded to H.D.A.

One thing that is rather interesting and surprising is the drop in the Brinell from 64 to 48. Perhaps you will get an investigation into this started and Mr. Blackith will be only too ready to meet your man at Dennis.

Yours sincerely,
J John Howlett

P.S. Since dictating the above, we have heard from Mr. Milne that a meeting has been arranged for Wednesday morning and he has asked us to be certain that the bearing is at his office in time. Perhaps you will make sure that your man takes it with him.
JH.
