X.4066 RE BALL END FOR FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER.
As arranged during one of our recent visits to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town we have prepared a scheme for mounting the ball end which is fastened to the axle on cones and send two schemes "N" Scheme 379 and "N" Scheme 385 . The former shews two equal cones, the latter shews a cone of larger diameter at the ball side than at the nut side, because it appears that the load of this cone should be more than the load on the nut, and that there will be a certain amount of heeling off the edge of the cone, which is best dealt with by making the cone as larger as possible.
