re Chassis 3.AZ.140 - Mr. Benhaim.

We note the trouble of water getting in the near side shock damper. We have now run 10,000 miles without a permanent vent in the front suspension units. For new material now being ordered for production the permanent vent plug will be replaced by one which is only released if necessary whilst the dampers are being filled with oil. So that if you have any trouble with a car getting water into the dampers, it will be quite satisfactory to block up the vent plugs G.83678/9.

We are investigating the actual valve troubles, but we think this was largely amplified by water being present in the system.

We note from the complaint sheet that you removed the radiator in order to take the damper units out. It was unnecessary to remove the radiator. Actually the damper units can be removed without removing the front apron although if you are not conversant with the front dampers it may be quicker to remove the apron.
