Clan Foundry, Belper RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} cc Sft.{Mr Swift} cc BF. O I/C A.I.D. TB/CPJ.4/JH.2.6.41. I have received a memo from I/C A.I.D. requesting a Chief Inspector to be appointed at Clan Foundry. There is no necessity for a Chief Inspector and I am not in agreement for one to be appointed. I am however agreeable for a Senior Inspector to be appointed but do not consider that either of the 8 inspectors which are now at Clan Foundry are sufficiently experienced or conversant with inspection requirements to warrant them being regarded as senior men. I have suggested and recommended to Mr. Bradshaw (I/C A.I.D) and By that Mr. Ellison who is at present an inspector attached to our Erecting Dept. in the Aero Division Derby, should be transferred to Clan Foundry as a Senior Inspector providing that one of your existing inspectors is returned to Derby for me to have in place of Mr. Ellison. The alternative to this is that Mr. Ellison is still regarded as a senior inspector at Clan Foundry but remains at Derby and makes periodical visits to Clan Foundry and any other visit necessary on request either by yourself, Mr. Fisher or the A.I.D. It must be clearly understood that Mr. Ellison will be under my control if transferred to Clan Foundry or if it is agreed that periodical visits will suffice. It would be appreciated if you will let me have your comments as quickly as possible in order that this matter can be settled. TB/CPJ. C.P.Jones | ||
