Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 86117 Cricklewood, July 28th. Professor Dodds' Bentley. I tried this car today. In a gradient from 10 to 30 M.P.H. there was bad misfiring, above this speed it was alright. We changed the ignition wires and although the misfiring was not 100% cured, at least 90% was. We have not touched anything else and have left the outside ignition wires on, so that you can change over and see the results yourself before examining plugs etc. The clutch on this car is not too bad but the Owner complains of jaggering. The clutch plate was changed last April so it would not be the latest we know of. Therefore, the best we know of could be fitted while it is at Derby. The car is being brought up to Derby in the morning for your attention. I could not hear any signs of starting in the distributor but should doubt it. I've sent you two more sets of high tension wires taken from Bentleys, also I'm sending a sample of wire that the old Bentley firm used and now use on their cars. They have never experienced a failure with this wire and it is enclosed in a tube the same as ours. G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} W. Hancock. | ||
