[Handwritten: GRY{Shadwell Grylls} X4553 Seame HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}] W/S. To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from K.{Mr Kilner} K.8/HP.6.2.34. c.c. Hsr. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Ey. Pu. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} re 3 1/2 litre Bentley. Replying to the last paragraph of your memo Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}21/E.5.2.34. the running of the Bentley engine with four bearings only is to give us some information on the roughness effect produced on the chassis by the increased vertical deflection of the crank. We should be glad if Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} also would let us have a report on the behaviour of all 8 in line engines of which we have experience, together with the number of main bearings used in each case where known.
