To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/W.Bell! X 1265 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/9/KW/15.7.35. Helical Gear Oil Pumps. The Test Beds report that the helical gear oil pump is no good at all for priming. Will you please investigate this and let us know whether it is a fundamental of the helical gear pump, or whether it is due to this being made with too little back lash. This matter is very important as a number of these helical gear pumps have gone out, and if the owner drains his sump and re-fills, he will have great difficulty in obtaining oil pressure.
