400b To RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/MW. We confirm our telephone conversation of this morning as under. Will you please send us a complete set of new brake shoes as the rears are nearly worn away. We had a long run yesterday over very twisty roads & had to adjust the rear brakes twice. We found upon investigation if both rear brakes were & rotated each out of adjustment, that due to the excessive wear in the pin joints to the front brakes, the servo equalizer came to the end of the other servo link. Even with the rear brakes adjusted right up the servo equalizer comes 1/3 the way along the olothea servo link before the front brakes act. We propose to re adjust the loads to the fronts to take out the slack. Please send new brake drum retaining screws. i.e. D.B.A., the fronts are fitted with 1/4 screws which we believe are the correct modification. We shall probably have difficulty in fitting the new Michelin tyres on the fronts & rears, 1/4" packing is about the maximum allowable for safety, we have had the Boons fair rub the rear body brackets but only on severe cornering.
