X.3677 CHASSIS INDUCTION PIPES+ X.3719 RE CHASSIS FOR AMERICA MARKED SHIPMENT. Referring to your memo C7/C16.2.21, and dealing particularly with the point raised by America in their cable, namely, that we should not make shipment in March unless we have jacketed the Induction Pipe, although we now fully appreciate the question of jacketing the Induction Pipe in some manner or another, it is evident we have not had sufficient time to get any distance with the new proposal. I have consulted Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} informs me that that, although everything is being done to push the matter forward, nothing is available at the moment for detailing. In discussing the matter with Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, I find that he has got some experiments actually moving merely to test out the possibilities of the scheme, but which do not incorporate really good design, but that here again the shortness of the time which has elapsed since the matter was raised, has prevented him from being able to produce any definite results which could be incorporaed in chassis in the near future. From our point of view we would like remark that the urgency of the matter is understood, but that also the trouble itself will not be acute from March onwards in America until Contd | ||
