EFC/T6.4.25. X.3915 - 20 HP. STARTER SWITCH. A switch of this type has now completed 10,000 miles, partly on 7-G-11 and partly on GF.68. As received off the car, and operated by hand, it was found to work quite smoothly with no tendency to stick in. The insulation on this is O.K. An examination of the contacts showed that the plunger contact was pitted fairly uniformly all the way round and no part seriously burnt. This is a great improvement on previous switches and suggests that the floating contact has moved round, thus distributing the spark wear on itself. Of the contact fingers, though three or four are somewhat burnt, others are untouched. Generally, the condition of the switch is very good and particularly so in view of the fact that the oil level has not been maintained as instructed in the Instruction Book, the switch being found to be practically dry on opening up.
