To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. c. to CJ. EFC5/T3.4.19. RE DYNAMO FOR W.W. X.3862 X323/2 X430 We would like to know if we may send you to replace the Bijur dynamo you have down there (which was taken from the Packard car) a C.A.V. N.G.R.R. type dynamo. The reason for this is that we have at the moment several of these C.A.V. dynamos whereas we have only the two Bijur machines, one of which belongs to the Packard Car. Mr. Hives is very anxious to re-complete the Packard Car and get it sold and out of the way to make more room. For this purpose it will be necessary to have the Bijur dynamo back, as no other dynamo can be fitted in its place. It was suggested that you should have the Bijur dynamo taken from 49-GB. As, however, I am very anxious to do a number of further tests on this dynamo with this particular type of control, being the type of control that will probably be standard, for instance, I wish to try the exact effect of compounding the coil etc., and thrash the system out generally. I am asking you if you will for the present have one of these C.A.V. dynamos, then if necessary we could let you have the Bijur dynamo later on. Will you kindly say if you will agree to this.
