6021 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs}14/MH.{M. Huckerby} 3rd. January 1938. Technical Information Bureau of Lead Industries Development Council, 19, Hobart Place, Eaton Square, LONDON, S.W.1. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letters of November 22nd and 25th. 1937, and regret that owing to pressure of work and the Christmas holidays intervening, there has been so much delay in replying. Briefly, we gather that while you think a lead chlorinated rubber paint would provide a better protective coat than ordinary lead-oil paint you consider that no paint will satisfactorily withstand the abrasion it is likely to be subjected to. Further, that the most satisfactory coating is likely to be obtained from a lead-spray film, or better still, from a hot-dipped film. This information is useful as a guide and we again thank you for the kind attention you have given to this matter. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
