| VALVES & VALVE SPRINGS (Contd.) (2) 90th Meeting Re Valve Springs. Nov. 30. 11. Mr. Swetnam submitted information concerning two new designs of valve springs, one having the outside diameter of the coil increased by .2 with a maximum and minimum stress of 40,000 and 57,000 lbs. to the square inch, and the other having an extra turn of wire, but otherwise similar to our standard spring, accommodated by a stepped washer with a consequent maximum and minimum stress of about 57,000 and 43,000. The Committee agreed that six sets of these springs containing an extra coil should be made experimentally, it being recommended that a gross of these springs be ordered. 93rd Meeting Valve Springs Dec. 5. 11. The Committee were informed that 4 doz. of the Valve Springs having an extra coil, had been ordered. Mr. Nadin promised to increase this order to 12 doz. The valve spring washers would be instructed the following day. 94th Meeting Re Captain Bushe's Car 1698. Dec. 6. 1911.
