EFC. WB.{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell}107 5.10.26. X.8793 - LUCAS ERS MAGNETO NO.51 OFF 12-EX. This magneto was returned to us as being faulty by CWB. after having run 17,856 miles on 12-EX. Upon examination we observed the following :- (a) Contact Breaker. The platinum points have worn right down to the steel, otherwise this unit appeared O.K. Cam cage rather slack in bearing housing. (b) Distributor. The distributor track appeared rather rough but exhibited no signs of serious burning at the segments. The H.T. rotor brush was not bedding satisfactorily apparently due to weak spring. Otherwise the other parts of the magneto appeared quite O.K. We have not run this magneto on the bench to ascertain the nature of the failure but suspect it to be due to contact breaker points. EFC/H.E.West. | ||
