+8260 To BJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG7.10.25. +8940a NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I FOR NEXT 10,000 MILES TEST. The car which is going to France will not have the latest louvred bonnet. The bonnet was shewn to R.{Sir Henry Royce} when we took the car to W.W. about 10 days. ago. Since then we have received a still later design for louvres. It will be at least 2 weeks before this bonnet is ready. We suggest also that it might be advisable to see whether the louvres are efficient before they are judged for appearabce. So far our tests show that louvred bonnets are no more efficient as regards keeping the engine cool than a bonnet with the shutters open. The only advantage in the louvred bonnets is that the louvres are always open, whereas with the shuttered bonnets, customers may not use the shutters. The recent later design of louvred bonnet which we tried was definitely worse than the standard one for increasing the amount of engine noise which could be heard. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
