To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1044 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/ST.20.9.41. 14 H.P. CAR. With reference to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}9/KW.17.9.41 and Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}6/KW.18.9.41. SPEEDOMETER. The paper face on the speedometer reads the correct M.P.H. WHEELBASE. The car is a 9' 8 1/2" wheelbase. The dash to front wheel dimension is 27". This is the smallest dimension that will carry a six-cylinder engine, and at the same time the smallest dimension in which a spare wheel can be fitted to the side. The Senior Range car for this engine, i.e. the Rippletto shown on PL.139 is designed with a dash to front wheel dimension of 20.5". The same engine is got into a space of 15.5" on the Myth, so that the 20.5" is not the best that can be done. However, if a Senior Range car is ever sold with a four-cylinder engine in it, it will not have a wheelbase of more than 9' 2". POWER/WEIGHT RATIO. The car as tried weighs 32 cwt. The target weight of the Myth is 23 cwt. The final power/weight ratio will therefore be almost 30% better than the car you tried. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
