re Modifications to P.100 Headlamps.

We have received our copy of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst8/MA.20.6.35, and have carefully noticed the contents of same.

With all due respect to the opinion expressed in the above memo, I do not agree that it is not practicable for us to do the suggested changeover of reflectors.

Our electricians at N. are constantly having to take these lamps to pieces in the course of repairs. Therefore they are quite aut fait with the instruction and the necessity for adjustment.

May I also point out that if ever a car goes abroad the Chauffeurs themselves alter the adjustment for the purpose of right hand dipping, etc. Further, should a Chauffeur require to change a fuse he himself has to remove the reflector for the purpose of getting at it.

I still feel that the best way to deal with this job is for us to change the inside of the lamp at N. and not to change the complete unit. In many cases where cars come from a long distance we should have no chance of seeing the car a second time in order to refit the original lamps, and if we attempt to change lamps permanently we are bound to frequently get up against the trouble of cars arriving with bruised or dented lamps and receiving lamps in perfect condition in exchange.

There is another point which should be considered, and this is that there is no need to let a customer know that this modification is taking place if we are able to carry out the job in the way I have suggested.

Under the circumstances perhaps Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. will give the matter further consideration and let us know if, on reflection, he agrees that we can do this.
