Referring to your memo R2/G17119, directly we received instructions that you wished to taper up the ends of the flanges, this matter was put in hand. It will, of course, mean machining out a new rod from from the solid. This, however is being urged through as quickly as possible, and as soon as the new rod is available as a sample, it will be despatched to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town for your inspection.
