Instead of putting in a flexible cam lever I would suggest that we fitted a coil spring above the hand control cam, which would be sufficiently strong not to be moved by the ordinary pressure that comes onto the cam, but would be flexible enough to allow the lever to be moved without moving the locking device until such times as the pressure was released.

It seems to me that this locking device is going to be a very good arrangement and we are, at the moment, testing out sizes to get the maximum amount of bearing surface that will hold so that we do not have to bush the valve gear chamber.

According to our present arrangement there is no cheating in the way of bending on the locking device, and if we can get the bearing surface large enough I cannot see any objection to it as it then becomes a piston in the cylinder.

We may not get the whole of the drawings and specifications off to you today, but they will be sent as soon as they are ready.

Yours sincerely,

p.p.THE GORDON ARMSTRONG
PATENT SUSPENSION CO.LTD.
