Further lightening of the Phantom flywheel and clutch by comparing its weight and moment of inertia with the Silver Ghost.

X. 8300 X. 9300 X. 8840 Regarding the further lightening of the Phantom flywheel and clutch we have suggested that the polar movement of inertia of the Silver Ghost flywheel and clutch should be measured by the two wire method and compared with the figures already obtained for the Phantom. In this way we should be comparing with an existing known standard and we should know how much more weight it is possible to save either by working to the same value of the moment of inertia or if permissible a smaller value of the Silver Ghost moment. From your reports the figures for the weights are as follows :- Original Phantom flywheel and clutch complete with casing ---------- 194.4 lbs. Lighter and improved ditto recently standardised -------------------- 166.4 lbs. Silver Ghost flywheel and clutch ---- 115 lbs.
