WRAITH INDUCTION PIPE.

We have got far enough with our tests on experimental pipes for the above engine, to give the necessary data, so that distribution can be considerably improved, compared with the present designed pipe on Wraith.

The drawings Ex.S.77 - 78 and Ex.S.80 show this improved pipe in three separate sections, and experiments are proceeding with the centre section.

If possible a pipe should be fitted to the next 10,000 miles Wraith incorporating these improvements, for the following reason.

The designed induction pipe gives excessive weakness to the centre cylinders, and the two valve failures on Wraith occured in centre cylinders, (apart from the excessive loading on the valves due to camshaft characteristics).

If a draughtsman can be instructed to co-operate with Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} further details can be supplied as the job proceeds, and possibly a cast aluminium pipe could be produced and fitted to Wraith No, 7 Unit before it actually starts 10,000 miles endurance.
