78450 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from BJ. Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Copy to Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} Steering Springs etc. BJS/E16/7/26 Re R6/M12/7/26, I am glad to see R's views of the possible saving of expense in this way of dealing with complaints. Are you arranging for R.{Sir Henry Royce} to try a heavy long wheel base car with the same fittings etc. as 10-EX.? It seems to me that it might interest him to try the type of car that 90% of our customers use, as possibly any conclusion arrived at on this specially light car - such as 1% of our customers may use - may not be quite the most useful basis to guide us. But of course I do not know how far such items are likely to be affected by weight, height of body etc. Perhaps you are arranging tests in England and France soon that will enable everyone to arrive at what is and what is not the most satisfactory solution in dealing with Phantom steering complaints especially on closed cars such as nearly all our customers use. It seems very desirable that any further tests should be carried out at once. Kindly let me know what is suggested. BJ. | ||
